This limited edition lithograph was produced to celebrate Eddy Merckx' visit to Australia as special guest of the 2006 Cyclecover Insurance Bicycling Australia Show. It was signed at the show, in the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton, Victoria on Friday 13th October 2006.
The image used was photographed by Mr Tonny Strouken, a since retired professional cycling photographer from Holland. It was taken during the 1969 Tour de France, showing Eddy wearing the leader's yellow jersey. He held the jersey all the way to Paris, for the first of his five career victories in the Tour de France.
By the time of his retirement in 1978, Eddy Merckx had won a record 524 career victories including virtually every major professional event, making him the greatest cyclist of all time.
