In an uncanny prequel to Lance Armstrong, Greg LeMond had made an amazing two year comeback from near death, in LeMond’s case from a shooting accident, at the time this 1989 Tour de France photo was taken. LeMond beat France’s hero Laurent Fignon seen here on the left, by an amazing eight seconds after a famous finalé time trial in Paris. Greg LeMond added one more Tour de France to his collection the following year, having also won once prior to his accident.
